Description: The RN Clinical Nurse Critical Care is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team. The team ensures that patients and families receive individualized high-quality, safe patient care. Nurses practice in a clinical environment administered by Nurse Managers and other leaders. Support for clinical practice is provided through a governance model. The framework for practice is guided by a professional practice model and evidence-based practice. RN competencies are derived from these models and supported by core values. All RN Clinical Nurses are expected to uphold the practice of nursing as outlined by the Nurse Practice Act. They implement the Scope of Practice and adhere to Code of Ethics Standards. As a member of the patient services team, nurses uphold the voice of the patient and system policies. They support service excellence goals. Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions: The nursing process includes assessment, diagnosis, identification of outcomes, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Care is delivered using evidence-based practices and is individualized. Nurses coordinate care through effective partnerships. They provide relationship-based patient-centered care consistent with population-specific characteristics. Patient and significant others are always engaged in care planning. Current clinical practice standards are utilized in all aspects of care. Nurses coordinate delivery and documentation of safe, quality patient care. They demonstrate teamwork by practicing in a fiscally responsible manner. Performance improvement initiatives are supported, including research utilization. Nurses participate in shared governance at all levels. Professional development is prioritized through ongoing competency assessment and required education.
