Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Profession: Nursing Specialty: Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour Day Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required License: RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: General ICU skill set including critical care experience with insulin, vasopressors, sedation, management of invasive lines (ART/CVP), cardiac rhythm interpretation, chest tubes, ventilator management, blood products, and wound care/dressing changes. Description: This facility is licensed for 457 beds and serves as a Level 3 Trauma Center. It is recognized as a Stroke Center of Excellence and a Chest Pain Center. The unit has 40 beds with a patient census averaging 40. Patient types include ventilated patients, stroke and thrombectomy patients, those requiring opti-flow, BiPAPs, overdose management, CRRT, GI bleeds, and some trauma cases. Patient ratios are RN: 1:1-3. CNA support is available for assistance with turning, feeding, activities of daily living, blood sugars, lab draws, and mobility. There is a Charge Nurse available 24/7, and a Hospitalist and Intensivist are also onsite 24/7. Telemetry monitoring is conducted using hardwire monitors and travel tele boxes. The EMR system is Epic, and equipment includes Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell med dispensing, Phillips monitors, Arctic Sun, Hemosphere, Belmont rapid transfuser, and Life Flow. Travelers may be required to float within the region and scope of practice as needed. Holiday expectations are that travelers will work 75% of holidays. Up to 6 days off can be approved, excluding holidays, adding time to the end of the contract if necessary. Scrub color is navy, and there is designated teammate parking available. The unit culture emphasizes teamwork on both day and night shifts.
