Job Title: Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: ICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12hr Day Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: 2 years ICU experience required License: RN Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: General ICU skillset including critical care medication management, cardiac rhythm interpretation, and ventilator management Description: This position is for an Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurse. The facility is licensed for 457 beds and is a Level 3 Trauma Center. It also holds designations as a Stroke Center of Excellence and a Chest Pain Center. The unit has 40 beds with a patient census of approximately 40. Patient types include ventilated patients, stroke and thrombectomy patients, patients requiring opti-flow and BiPAP, overdose patients, and those with GI bleeds. The expected patient ratios are 1:1-3 for RNs. The nurse will be responsible for managing critical care medications such as insulin, vasopressors, and sedation. Experience with the management of invasive lines, cardiac monitoring, and blood product administration is essential. Support within the department includes CNAs for assistance with ADLs and mobility. There is a charge nurse present 24/7. Telemetry monitoring is conducted via hardwired monitors and travel tele boxes. Travelers will float within the region and scope of practice as needed. Weekend rotation is required every other weekend, and travelers will work 75% of holidays. Requests for time off may be approved for up to 6 days, excluding holidays. The unit culture promotes teamwork among both day and night shifts.
