Holiday Requirements work one shift of each major holiday (Thanksgiving Day or day after + 12/24 or 12/25 + 12/31 or 1/1
Floating Requirements All adult ICU units in house including PCU

 

Job Summary
Seeking an experienced ICU Registered Nurse for a 14-bed Medical ICU at a Level 1 Trauma and Teaching Hospital. The ideal candidate will have strong critical care experience managing complex, high-acuity patients in a fast-paced team environment.

Unit Details

  • 14-bed Medical ICU
  • Average census: 14 patients
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:1–2 (occasionally 1:3)
  • CNA support available each shift
  • First-time travelers accepted
  • Floating required to all adult ICU units including PCU

Patient Population
Common diagnoses include:

  • Respiratory failure
  • Renal failure
  • Sepsis
  • GI bleed
  • DKA
  • Stroke
  • Pneumonia
  • Cancer
  • ARDS
  • Overdose patients
  • Hemodynamically unstable patients requiring invasive monitoring
  • Chronic ventilator and trach patients

Required Experience & Certifications

  • Minimum 2 years of ICU RN experience
  • Active RN license
  • BLS required
  • ACLS required
  • NIHSS required
  • CCRN preferred

Required Skills

  • Ventilator management
  • Trach care
  • Chest tube management
  • PIV starts
  • Insulin, heparin, and vasoactive drips
  • Titration of drips to HR/BP parameters
  • Management of arterial lines and central lines
  • ICP monitoring
  • Bedside procedure assistance
  • TABLO experience preferred

Schedule & Requirements

  • 12-hour Day Shift
  • 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
  • 36 hours/week
  • Weekend rotation required:
    • 6 shifts every 6 weeks
  • Holiday requirement:
    • One shift for each major holiday group
  • No call or callback requirements

Orientation

  • 1 day hospital orientation + education modules
  • 2 days unit orientation
