Job Summary:
This ICU Medical position is located in Salem, Massachusetts, and involves night shift work in a Level III Trauma Centers Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU). The role requires providing care to adult patients with a variety of critical diagnoses, including substance overdose, severe psychiatric conditions, sepsis, respiratory failure, and cardiac events. The ICU operates 24 hours daily, with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2 or 1:1 for high acuity cases, and the unit features a 20-bed capacity with continuous presence of attendings and residents.

  • Position Description: MICU Nurse working nights at a 20-bed Medical/Surgical ICU with floating requirements.
  • Shift Schedule: Night shift, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per week.
  • Required Qualifications: Active Massachusetts RN Licensure, American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications, at least 2 years of continuous adult ICU experience, including telemetry competency, and 2 years of experience in a single location.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience with electronic medical record systems such as EPIC, demonstrated ability to read tele-stips, and flexibility to float across medical-surgical units.
  • Additional Information: Floating typically involves up to four or five patients, primarily on medical and surgical units, with the potential for high-acuity care. The ICU team is supported by attending physicians and residents 24/7, and the environment requires acute clinical skills.
