Job Summary:
The facility is seeking an experienced Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Registered Nurse (RN) for a position in Louisville, Kentucky. The role involves providing critical care to a diverse patient population, including ventilator support, post-cardiac procedures, and patients requiring complex therapies. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing acute patient needs within a high-acuity environment, adhering to facility protocols and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
Job Details:
- Location: Louisville, Kentucky
- Schedule: Days shift, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week
- Certifications and Education: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, CPI; valid licenses required
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of ICU nursing experience; 0 years minimum experience noted
- Unit Information: 24-bed ICU with 8-16 ICU and step-down patients daily; patient ratios of 1:1-3
- Patient Types/Common Diagnoses: Intensive care, ventilator support, post cardiac procedure (no open thoracic but will see PCI), balloon pumps, Swanz-Ganz catheter management, continuous renal replacement therapy, sepsis, ECMO, pulmonary embolisms, post thrombectomy, post stroke (not hemorrhagic)
- Skills Required: Experience with ventilators, tracheostomies, tube feeds, chest tubes, titrating drips, DKA management
- Support within Department: One CNA/PCA per 8-12 patients, 24/7 respiratory therapy, mid-level ICU providers, receptionists/HUC, charge nurses, phlebotomists, intensivists 24/7, telemetry monitoring/tech
- Technology and Equipment: Cerner electronic medical record system, Plum 360 IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, Philips monitors, CRRT, Artic Sun, balloon pump, EKOS, Prenumbra, Pacer
- Float Policy: Float within scope of practice, to PCU, MedSurg, and Telemetry units as needed
- Orientation: 1-2 shifts in the unit, orientation provided
- Parking: Free
