Position Summary

The RN House Supervisor serves as the clinical and administrative leader responsible for overseeing hospital operations during assigned shifts. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality patient care by coordinating staffing resources, responding to critical events, supporting nursing staff, and serving as the administrative resource for all departments during non-operating hours.

The ideal candidate is an experienced acute care Registered Nurse with strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills who thrives in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities Clinical Leadership
  • Respond immediately to critical events and emergency situations.
  • Provide leadership and follow-up during Code Blue, Code Red, Code 100, and other emergency events.
  • Ensure appropriate follow-up actions, including documentation, staff education, and patient/family support.
  • Serve as a clinical resource by providing consultation, guidance, and education to nursing staff.
  • Assist staff with complex patient care situations and problem resolution.
Staffing & Operations Management
  • Continuously evaluate staffing needs and adjust assignments to ensure optimal patient care coverage.
  • Coordinate staffing requirements for current and upcoming shifts.
  • Monitor patient acuity and staffing levels to maintain safe and effective care.
  • Function as the administrative resource for nursing units and ancillary departments.
  • Support departmental operations during evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, and other non-operating hours.
  • Collaborate with department leaders to ensure appropriate allocation of resources.
Staff Support & Conflict Resolution
  • Complete employee performance evaluations within established timelines.
  • Assist with resolving conflicts involving staff, physicians, patients, and families.
  • Mediate workplace issues and communicate concerns through appropriate channels.
  • Promote teamwork, collaboration, and a positive work environment.
Patient Advocacy & Quality Improvement
  • Advocate for patients, families, and staff.
  • Support and protect patient rights.
  • Intervene appropriately on behalf of patients and staff to ensure quality and safety.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to meet patient care needs.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, regulatory standards, and quality initiatives.
Physical Requirements
  • Exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and up to 10 pounds frequently to move objects.
  • Frequent reaching, handling, grasping, and manual dexterity required.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move throughout the facility for extended periods.
Schedule

Part-time position, 20–22 hours per week, with varying shifts based on department needs. Candidates must be available to work every third weekend and assigned holidays. The workweek runs Monday through Sunday.
