Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Hospice Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday Hours per Shift: 10 hours Experience: Minimum of 1 year of hospice experience required. License: RN License for State of Maine Certifications: BLS Certification required. Must-Have: Valid driver's license and use of own vehicle. Description: Urgent start needed. This assignment involves providing hospice care to patients in their homes. The work shift consists of four 10-hour days. The patient census averages between 85-90 patients. Travelers with one year of experience are accepted. First-time travelers are only accepted if they have hospice experience. Common patient diagnoses include oncology diagnoses, dementia/alzheimer's, end-stage CHF/COPD, and end-stage neurological conditions such as ALS, MS, and Parkinson's. The nurse will typically manage 15 to 20 patients. The nursing skill set required includes the ability to care for the common diagnoses listed. Support within the department is provided through scheduling, a clinical manager, and a lead support team. Technology used includes an electronic medical record (EMR) system. IV pumps are provided through a vendor. If census is low, travelers may be asked to support other locations as needed. The scheduling includes a weekend rotation, typically once or twice a month based on staffing. There is an overnight call requirement from 5 PM to 8 AM, typically once or twice a month depending on staffing. Holiday coverage is expected if the assignment aligns with major holidays. Requests for time off require manager approval. Dress code is business casual or scrubs, with no specific color requirement.
