The role is practiced in a clinical environment administered by Nurse Managers and supported by a Professional Practice Model. Core responsibilities include performing the Nursing Process such as assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care. The nurse provides patient-centered care that adapts to population-specific characteristics. Collaboration with patients and their significant others is crucial for setting care goals. The nurse employs current clinical practice standards to ensure safe patient care delivery. Teamwork and effective communication within the healthcare team are essential for promoting quality care. Participation in performance improvement and research activities is expected to enhance patient care quality. The nurse may serve as a preceptor or mentor for other nursing professionals. Evidence-based practice and adherence to organizational policies and regulations are fundamental in this role. Proactive planning for patient care across the continuum is essential. The nurse supports the efficient use of resources and may help develop protocols for best practices. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.
