- Minimum of 2 years in emergency room.
- Experience in Trauma Level 1 or 2 within the last 2 years.
- Gunshot wound and stabbing experience is a bonus.
Description:
This position is for an emergency room registered nurse.
The facility is a Level 3 trauma center receiving STEMI and stroke patients.
Patients requiring stroke intervention will be transferred to a higher-level facility.
The emergency department has 52 beds and 4 trauma bays.
There are 6 fast track beds available for less critical cases.
Triage is performed in two separate quick look areas using the ESI method.
ER holds are intermixed within the emergency room.
There are no dedicated seclusion rooms for psychiatric patients.
Security is present in-house 24/7 near the hospital lobby.
On average, the emergency department treats 200 patients daily.
Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:5 for medical cases and 1:6 for fast track patients.
ED techs, with 2 years or more of experience, assist in vitals, blood draws, and splints.
Registered nurses must interpret their own telemetry readings.
A monitor technician is also available in the emergency department.
The emergency department is equipped with dedicated CT and X-ray facilities.
ED techs or registered nurses will perform lab draws.
Shifts are varied, with multiple start times.
Weekend requirements include working 4 weekend shifts per 4-week block.
Holiday requirements typically involve working 2 out of the 5 holidays.
Orientation includes one day of didactic training and one day of hands-on clinical experience.

Emergency department staffing includes varied shifts for physicians and mid-level providers.
