Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Full-Time | Onsite | Night Shift (7:30 PM – 8:00 AM) | 36 hours guaranteed per week, 12-hour shifts | Every other weekend and one major holiday required

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessments, develop and implement individualized plans of care, and evaluate treatment effectiveness in a fast-paced emergency department setting
  • Administer medications safely and in accordance with state practice standards and organizational policies
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for patient care coordination across hospital departments and with outside agencies including EMS, law enforcement, and transfer centers
  • Apply emergency nursing practice across all ages and acuity levels including medical illness, pediatric care, gerontologic care, mental health, and life- and limb-saving interventions
  • Operate and monitor specialized equipment including Alaris pumps, Hamilton ventilators, Autopulse, GlideScope, AmbuScope, ultrasound, EKG machines, and bladder scanners
  • Participate in ongoing quality improvement initiatives and model core safety behaviors to eliminate preventable harm
Required Qualifications
  • Current RN license in the state of Virginia or valid compact state license
  • Minimum one (1) year of Emergency Department experience required
  • Experience with conscious sedation required
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certifications required
  • CPI/De-escalation training required
  • Must pass EKG exam at orientation
  • Copy of nursing diploma required
Preferred Experience / Skills
  • Experience with EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR) system
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Prior experience in a community emergency department setting serving all ages and medical complaints
