Contract | Full-Time | Nights | 12-Hour Shifts | Every Other Weekend and Holiday | Onsite

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessments, develop and implement individualized plans of care, and evaluate treatment effectiveness in a fast-paced emergency department setting
  • Administer medications safely and in accordance with state practice standards and organizational policies
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for patient care coordination across hospital departments throughout the episode of care
  • Apply emergency nursing practice across the lifespan for conditions ranging from non-urgent to life-threatening, including medical illness, trauma, pediatric, gerontologic, and mental health presentations
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary and external care teams including EMS, law enforcement, crisis services, transfer centers, and pharmacies
  • Participate in ongoing quality improvement initiatives and model core safety behaviors to eliminate preventable harm
Required Qualifications
  • Current RN license in the state of Virginia or valid compact license
  • Minimum of 2 years of RN experience, with emergency department experience required
  • Triage experience required
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) required
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support), PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support), CPI, and NIH Stroke Scale certification required
  • Must successfully complete a Dysrhythmia exam at orientation (study guide provided)
Preferred Experience / Skills
  • Recent critical care or high-acuity emergency department experience in a busy, high-volume setting
  • Experience with EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR) system
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) or NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
