You will provide care that reflects initiative, flexibility, and responsibility indicative of professional expectations with minimal supervision. You must be able to triage safely, rapidly, and accurately, considering physical and psychosocial needs, as well as factors influencing patient flow through the system. Effective communication with physicians and mid-level providers about changes in patient status, symptomology, and results of diagnostic studies is essential. You will need to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment. Cooperation with patients, families, physicians, mid-level providers, allied health staff, and healthcare professionals is vital. You will give direction to emergency department techs, registration staff, and allied health staff. You will receive direction from the Emergency Department Director, physicians, mid-level providers, and the Director of Nursing. Emergency Department nursing principles and procedures are vital knowledge for this role. Basic office skills and basic computer knowledge are necessary. IV skills and the ability to operate manual and electronic medical equipment are required. Assessment skills are essential for effective patient care.
