Job Title: Emergency Department Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Emergency Care Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years required License: Active state license required Certifications: ACLS BLS NIH PALS TNCC Must-Have Skills: General Emergency Department experience Cardiac monitoring skills IV therapy and phlebotomy skills Medication administration experience Neurological case management experience Pediatric and psychiatric case management Respiratory case management experience Shock and trauma case management experience Description: Position is for an Emergency Department Registered Nurse. Shift is 4x12 or 3x12 nights. Average daily census is 120 in a 32-bed emergency department. Patient ratios are 1:4 for all shifts. Minimum 2 years of experience is required. First-time travelers are accepted. Weekend shifts may be required as needed. Certifications required include ACLS, BLS, NIH, PALS, and TNCC. Position does not require on-call duties. Nurses will float as needed within the scope of practice. Block scheduling is not accommodated. Candidates can be local to the area. RTO restrictions ideally should not exceed 5 days. Client may call off up to 36 hours within the assignment without payment for cancelled hours. If more hours are cancelled than permitted, the client will be billed for those shifts. If placed on-call instead of called off, it will count as a cancelled shift. Experience in a Level II trauma center is required. Skills required include interpretation and management of dysrhythmias. Nurses should have experience managing patients with multisystem organ dysfunction or failure. Candidates must be proficient in obtaining 12-lead EKGs. IV therapy skills such as blood product administration, central line care, and starting IVs are essential. Experience with emergency medication administration, including IV paralytics and sedation, is required. Neurological case management skills should include CVA and neuro-trauma care. Experience with orthopedic trauma cases is expected. Pediatric experience should include managing abdominal pain, asthma, and other related conditions. Psychiatric case management skills are necessary for managing acute psychosis and suicidal patients. Respiratory case management should include chest tube management and intubation. Experience managing shock and trauma cases is required. Candidates must be knowledgeable in triage and isolation precautions. Experience with tele interpretations and ventilators is preferred. Cerner experience is also preferred. Previous charge nurse experience is a plus.
