Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Emergency Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-Hour Day, Evening Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 3 years License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, COVID Vaccine Required Must-Have: 3-5 years of experience in specialty Description: Candidates with level III trauma experience or above are preferred. The unit has 15 beds and a 6-bed fast track that operates from 9 AM to 10 PM. Candidates must possess ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications. Typical nurse-to-patient ratios are 1 to 4, dependent on patient acuity. Charting is done through an electronic medical record system. Charge nurses are available and may take a small patient load when necessary. Nurse aides are present, along with a unit secretary available 24/7 and a tech on for 20 hours per day. Weekend requirements include working every other weekend, with holidays integrated into the permanent staff rotation. Scrub color is navy. Central monitoring for ER patients' strips is managed by a dedicated technician in the ICU. Ventilator management is included in the unit's capabilities. A physician is available on site at all times, with mid-level providers present from 9 AM to 2 AM. Respiratory therapy and pharmacy services are available 24/7. Shifts are 12 hours long, with varied start times. Schedules are created 30-45 days in advance. There is no floating to other units. The orientation period on the unit lasts for 2-3 days. Common diagnoses and patient types include strokes, abdominal pain, orthopedic injuries, and a significant number of psychiatric patients. The unit handles approximately 100 patient visits per day and sees about 500-600 pediatric patients each month. The hospital reserves the right to cancel shifts as needed during the assignment period.
