Job Title: ED RN Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Emergency Room Duration: 7 weeks Shift: Night 3x12-Hour Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 1 year of ED RN experience required License: Valid RN Licensure in California Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS Must-Have: - 1 year of ED RN experience - Current California RN Licensure - BLS (AHA) - ACLS - PALS - NIHSS Description: The ED RN provides competent, compassionate, and cost-effective patient care. Care is provided in accordance with unit, department, hospital policies, scientific principles, evidence-based nursing practice/process, nursing objectives, and standards of care. The ED RN will work variable shifts that may include days and nights. Every other weekend rotation is required. Floating to other campuses for support may be required if the census permits and is within the scope of practice. Experience in managing patients with conditions such as abdominal pain, respiratory infections, traumatic injuries, and mental/behavioral health conditions is necessary. The ED RN will be responsible for procedures including intubation, IV placement, and cardiac monitoring. The ED RN must adhere to infection control policies and safely administer emergency medications. The role requires the ability to assess and manage patients across all age groups, including neonates, pediatrics, adults, and geriatrics. Interdisciplinary support is available, including unit secretaries. Patients may have a variety of diagnoses and require different levels of care. The ED RN must demonstrate proficiency in charting systems and possess strong communication skills.
