Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) - Emergency Department Profession: RN UP Specialty: ED Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum three (3) years of relevant nursing experience License: Illinois state RN License in good standing Certifications: BLS (American Heart Association), ACLS (American Heart Association), PALS (American Heart Association) Must-Have: EPIC experience; Trauma level 2 or higher preferred; TNCC highly preferred Description: The staff Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility for a group of patients for a designated time frame. This role includes providing care to these patients via the utilization of the nursing process, nursing trends, technology, financial, and human resources. Performs all responsibilities and duties required by the unit as specific to the scope of service. Implements procedures and theories related to the specific area of practice. Maintains up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided to assure the integration of information for use by the healthcare team. Completes initial assessments upon patient admission and develops an appropriate plan of care in accordance with unit standards and based on patient and family needs. Implements the plan of care, nursing interventions, and patient care procedures. Modifies the plan of care based upon continuous evaluation. Takes responsibility for patient and employee safety by reporting and/or correcting safety hazards and incidents. Communicates with others directly and privately when necessary to resolve issues. Offers constructive feedback to assist in the professional development of peers and confers with colleagues to expand the knowledge base. Identifies own learning needs and takes initiative to begin appropriate solutions. Fulfills all requirements of departmental competencies. Implements procedures and theories specific to emergency department nursing. Performs patient assessments and develops care plans in collaboration with providers, family, and patient. Executes the plan of care and nursing interventions. Modifies care plans based on continuous assessments. Is responsible for patient and staff safety through appropriate nursing interventions, adhering to safety standards, and correcting/reporting safety hazards. Effectively communicates and collaborates with staff, visitors, and families to promote a healthy and healing work environment. Provides feedback to peers to aid in professional development, increase knowledge base, and problem solve. Maintains accurate and up-to-date patient records and documentation. Nights: 3:00 PM - 3:00 AM; 2 call shifts per 6-week schedule period (call shifts are 13 hours with an expectation of being onsite within an hour). There is a 2-week nights rotation required of all travelers. No block scheduling is available.
