Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Emergency Department Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 hours (9:00 AM - 9:30 PM) Experience: Minimum three (3) years of relevant nursing experience License: Active RN License in good standing Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS Must-Have: Trauma 2 or higher experience, EPIC experience Description: The staff Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility for a group of patients for a designated time frame. This role involves providing care to patients via the utilization of the nursing process, nursing trends, technology, financial and human resources within the philosophy of the institution. Essential functions include performing all responsibilities and duties required by the unit specific to the scope of service. The RN implements procedures and theories related to the specific area of practice. Maintaining up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided is essential to assure the integration of information for use by the healthcare team. The RN completes initial assessment upon patient admission and develops an appropriate plan of care in accordance with unit standards and based on patient and family needs. The plan of care is implemented through nursing interventions and patient care procedures. Modifications to the plan of care are made based on continuous evaluation. The RN takes responsibility for patient and employee safety by reporting and/or correcting safety hazards and incidents. Effective communication with others is vital for resolving issues, whether directly or in private. Constructive feedback is offered to assist in the professional development of peers, and conferring with colleagues expands knowledge base. The RN identifies own learning needs and takes initiative to begin appropriate solutions. Fulfilling all requirements of departmental competencies is necessary. Department-specific functions include implementing procedures and theories specific to Emergency Department nursing. Performed patient assessment and developed care plans in collaboration with providers, family, and patients. The RN executes the plan of care and nursing interventions while modifying care plans based on continuous assessment. The RN is responsible for patient and staff safety through appropriate nursing interventions and adherence to safety standards. Effective communication and collaboration with staff, visitors, and families promote a healthy and healing work environment. The RN maintains accurate and up-to-date patient records and documentation. Attendance during a two-week nights rotation is a requirement for all travelers. TNCC certification is preferred.
