The RN provides care to these patients via the utilization of the nursing process, nursing trends, technology, financial, and human resources within the philosophy of the institution. Responsibilities include performing all required duties specific to the scope of service. The RN implements procedures and theories related to the specific area of practice. Maintaining accurate documentation of nursing care provided ensures integration of information for the healthcare team. The RN completes initial assessments upon patient admission and develops appropriate plans of care in accordance with unit standards. These plans are based on patient and family needs. The RN executes the plan of care, nursing interventions, and patient care procedures. Plans of care are modified based on continuous evaluation. The RN takes responsibility for patient and employee safety by reporting and/or correcting safety hazards and incidents. Effective communication with others directly and privately is essential to resolve issues. The RN offers constructive feedback to assist in the professional development of peers. Collaboration with colleagues promotes knowledge expansion. The RN identifies personal learning needs and takes initiative for appropriate solutions. All departmental competencies must be fulfilled. The RN performs patient assessments and develops care plans in collaboration with providers, family, and patients. The plan of care and nursing interventions are executed accordingly. Care plans are adjusted based on continuous assessment. The RN is responsible for patient and staff safety through appropriate nursing interventions. Adhering to safety standards helps to correct and report safety hazards. Effective communication and collaboration with staff, visitors, and families promote a healthy and healing work environment. The RN maintains accurate and up-to-date patient records and documentation.
