License: Active Registered Nurse license in good standing. Certifications: - Basic Life Support (BLS) - Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Must-Have: - Critical thinking skills and the ability to exercise independent judgment. - Excellent communication skills in English. - Basic computer knowledge including word processing and spreadsheets. Description: The Ambulatory Nurse utilizes a systematic approach to nursing by incorporating assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in the practice of nursing. Provides healthcare to individuals, families, and communities within the RN scope of practice as defined by the Illinois Board of Nursing. Ensures adherence to established standards of care and scope of practice. Ensures documentation of care is complete and accurate. Acts as a preceptor and supports the development of other staff and healthcare students. Provides leadership for initiatives designed to improve the quality of care or clinical outcomes. Administers various forms of medication including oral, intravenous, and inhaled. Performs procedures such as ear washes, nebulizer treatments, and wound care. Assists providers with various medical procedures. Serves as a member of the emergency response team when needed. May be designated as Nurse Lead during shifts. Conducts patient education and provides instructions regarding medications and follow-up care. Collects and processes specimens and communicates test results to patients. Maintains department-specific competencies related to point of care testing and equipment handling. Performs vital signs collection and medication reconciliation upon patient arrival. Engages in telephone triage and communicates effectively with patients, families, and other healthcare facilities. Handles documentation within the electronic medical record as per provider orders. Maintains confidentiality and projects a professional, friendly demeanor. Demonstrates multicultural sensitivity. Communicates relevant healthcare information to team members and external stakeholders effectively.
