Description:
This position is for a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Room.
The unit is a combined Emergency and Urgent Care Department.
It is a Level 2 Trauma Center for both adults and pediatrics.
The facility receives STEMI patients and operates as a stroke center.
The unit consists of 38 beds and 5 trauma bays.
Traveling nurses are expected to perform triage duties as needed.
Patients are treated in an environment that does not have a separate triage area.
Regularly, 140-180 patients are treated each day.
Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:3 in the ER and 1:6 in urgent care.
Common patient diagnoses include chest pain, abdominal pain, sepsis, syncope, and suicidal ideation.
RNs regularly administer common drips such as heparin, nitroglycerin, and amiodarone.
The department does not have monitor techs; RNs monitor patient rhythms.
In-house security is available 24/7 for support.
Respiratory therapy is not present in the ER 24/7 but is available as needed.
RNs are responsible for drawing labs, with support from phlebotomy for specific tasks.
Shifts are assigned by a scheduler; self-scheduling is not available.
Weekend and holiday work is required every other time.
There is no on-call requirement.
Scrubs must be solid in color and maintain a professional appearance.
