Description:
Must have a Michigan License in hand.
The department operates as a Trauma Level IV facility.
The emergency room has a total of 14 beds and 2 trauma bays.
There are designated fast track areas with 3 rooms available.
A separate triage area is present with 2 triage rooms.
Traveling staff can triage after familiarizing themselves with the facility’s policies and procedures.
Patients can be held in the emergency department, with overflow utilizing attached rooms as needed.
Separate rooms are available for psychiatric patients or seclusion.
Security is not in-house 24/7; local law enforcement is utilized if necessary.
The emergency department treats an average of 40-60 patients per day.
The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:3-4 during the day, increasing at night.
Common diagnoses include traumas, STEMI, strokes, hunting injuries, and motor vehicle accidents.
Experience is preferred, but first-time travelers are welcome.
ED Physicians are present in-house 24/7.
Charge nurses typically take patient assignments.
Assistance from nurse aids, EMTs, and LPNs is available.
Respiratory therapy is present in-house 24/7.
X-ray services are available nearby, and they operate around the clock.
Phlebotomy services are 24/7, with dedicated personnel for drawing labs.
Scheduling is managed by the department manager, aiming for balanced workloads.
Weekend work is required every other weekend.
Holiday coverage typically requires working every other holiday, with specific needs during winter.
Volunteering for extra shifts is permitted.
Professional attire is expected; any solid color scrubs are acceptable.
Training includes computer-based modules and on-the-floor practice related to department-specific policies.
All staff must clock in and out while working.
