Description:
This role involves working in a fast-paced and high-acuity environment.
The Emergency Room provides critical care to trauma, sepsis, chest pain, shortness of breath, and stroke patients.
Common drips and medications encountered include all typical treatments seen in a Level 1 trauma setting.
Staff includes both ED Physicians and Mid-Levels.
Each shift will have a Charge Nurse overseeing operations.
Nurse aids, EMTs, paramedics, and patient sitters will be present during shifts with designated ratios.
RNs must read and interpret telemetry strips.
Shifts vary and may include combinations of day and night hours as required by department needs.
Floating to other units is expected at least once a week.
The environment emphasizes teamwork and effective communication.
Please note that adherence to safety and policy guidelines is mandatory.
Artificial nails are prohibited in patient care areas.
Examinations during orientation will test competency in skills learned.
Passing the exam is essential for continued employment.
Additional time off requests beyond initial submissions will not be approved.
