Job Title: Emergency Department Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Emergency Medicine Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Mid Hours per Shift: 12 Hours (15:00 - 03:30) Experience: Minimum 2 years required License: Active Illinois license or in application process Certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, TNCC required Must-Have: General Emergency Department experience with combined adult and pediatric care required. Cardiac Monitoring skills including interpretation of dysrhythmias and management of multisystem organ dysfunction or failure. IV Therapy skills including blood product administration and starting IVs. Medication skills for continuous IV sedation, emergency medications, and IV vasopressors. Neurological case skills including management of CVA, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury. Orthopedic skills required for managing and applying splints. Pediatric case skills including abdominal pain, asthma, head injury, infections, and respiratory infections. Psychiatric case skills in acute psychosis, drug overdose, and managing violent behavior. Respiratory case skills for chest tube insertion and intubation. Knowledge of isolation precautions and triage. Experience with Cerner charting is required. Description: Position is for an Emergency Department Registered Nurse. The average daily census in the department is 175. It consists of a 56-bed emergency department. Candidates will work every other weekend. First-time travelers are accepted for this position. The clinician is not required to be on-call. Candidates cannot float outside their scope to meet facility needs. Schedule requests can be discussed with the manager. No radius restrictions apply for local candidates. RTO restrictions ideally limit time off to no more than 5 days. The client may call off up to 36 hours without compensating for canceled hours. There are specific skills and experiences required, ranging from emergency response to managing pediatric and psychiatric cases. Additional required skills include procedural sedation administration and management of specific diagnoses and emergencies. Candidates must be prepared to handle a diverse range of adult and pediatric emergencies. The role requires adherence to standard emergency department procedures and protocols.
