The role requires active RN licensure and various certifications. The nurse will utilize the nursing process and collaborate with interdisciplinary team members in caring for patients. Responsibilities include administering prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques, policies and procedures, standards of care, and state laws. Documentation should adhere to established standards of care. The nurse will perform assessments, planning, intervention, and evaluation of patient care. It is essential to develop, initiate, and execute a patient plan of care according to the individualized needs of patients as prescribed by a physician or clinic policy. This includes patient and family instruction. Participation in department or unit performance improvement activities is required. Shared governance may be included in these activities. Clinical expertise should be utilized to guide other units or departments in support of the patient's longitudinal plan of care. Critical thinking regarding patient safety and patient experience is important, and appropriate escalation to the chain of command is necessary. Participation in the professional nursing continuum process, unit practice activities and decisions, as well as the peer review process, is expected. Holiday coverage may be required.
