Job Title: RN - Emergency Department Profession: Nursing Specialty: Emergency Nursing Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12hr Night Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum of 2 years required License: RN License required Certifications: ACLS, PALS, BLS, TNCC, NIHSS Must-Have: - Pediatric experience preferred - Skills in triage, assisting with RSI/intubation, procedural sedation, restraints, blood products, mass transfusion, stroke care, trauma care, and cardiac STEMI Description: This facility is a 123-bed hospital with a Trauma Level III designation. The emergency department treats a diverse patient population, ranging from neonates to geriatrics. Preferred experience includes working with pediatric patients, as the pediatric population comprises 1%. Common patient presentations include chest pain, abdominal pain, strokes, and neuro emergencies. The department averages 2 psych patients per week. Nurse-patient ratios are 1:4 during the day shift and 1:5 during the night shift. Nursing technicians are available at a ratio of 1:10. Support staff includes a charge nurse who handles a full patient load. Phlebotomy assistance is available for blood draws if needed. Respiratory therapy is present 24/7, and hospitalist coverage is available around the clock. Midlevel providers are on-site from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Tele-monitoring is conducted at bedside and from the nurses' station. The charting system used is Epic, and equipment includes Alaris and Pyxis systems. Weekend rotation occurs every third weekend, with up to 7 days of time off being approved. Holiday expectations are every other holiday. Scrub color is not restricted, and there is free parking available.
