Job Title: Registered Nurse - Emergency Room Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Emergency Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-Hour Mids/Eves Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department experience required License: Must have a valid state nursing license Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, CPI or MOAB Must-Have: - General nursing knowledge - Emergency department experience - Ventilator management - Critical care drips/titration - Cardiac rhythm interpretation - Measuring cardiac strips - Drains and chest tubes management - Hemodynamic line management (Art lines/CVP) - Stroke experience (TPA administration) - Conscious sedation - Assisting with splinting Description: The nurse will provide care to patients in the emergency room. Patient types include infants and those requiring end-of-life care. The unit caters to all acuity levels, including MedSurg, Stepdown, and ICU. Traumas are stabilized before being transferred to higher-level care facilities. Patient conditions include STEMI, NSTEMI, heart failure, strokes requiring intervention, spinal precautions, seizures, DKA, sepsis, respiratory failure, renal failure, and more. The nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 1:3-4 or 1:5 in fast-track areas. Travelers are required to pass an EKG competency exam prior to arrival. General support on the unit includes a charge nurse who may take patient assignments, in-house phlebotomy, and available hospitalist services. Evening and weekend shifts will be part of the schedule, with mandatory rotations every other weekend. The unit culture is traveler-friendly, with a focus on professionalism. Cell phone usage is prohibited in patient care areas, and earbuds are not permitted. Dress code includes pewter scrubs and gray, white, or black t-shirts with designated monograms. Badges must be clearly visible above the waist. Holiday availability is required for 2 out of 3 major holidays.
