Job Title: Emergency Department Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: ER Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Hours Experience: Minimum 2 Years Required; Level I Trauma Experience Preferred License: NM License Can Pend at Time of Submission Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIH, PALS, TNCC (Must Have TNCC Before Submission) Description: Travelers should expect assignments primarily involving admitted patients. No RQI Certifications accepted. Travel experience is strongly preferred; however, candidates with 2+ years of Level I Trauma experience may be considered. Shifts may be 36 or 48 hours. Approximately 60%-80% of the Emergency Department consists of admitted patients, with many ED rooms designated for "ED Holding". Medication administration will include IV medications via the seven medication rights. Candidates are responsible for documenting and communicating clinical findings. The Emergency Department staffing ratios are 1:5. Weekend scheduling will occur as needed, with weekends defined as both Saturday and Sunday. Weekend nights include Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Floating to Pediatric Emergency Department is optional, while floating to Adult Patient Care Units is expected based on staffing needs. There is no on-call requirement. Travelers will not be accepted within a 100-mile radius. RTO restrictions apply; greater than 7 days requires approval. The facility allows for up to 3 call-offs throughout a 13-week assignment. The type of facility includes Level I Trauma, Children's Hospital, Teaching Hospital, Short-term, Acute Care. The total number of staffed beds is 554. Patient age groups include adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. Daily census ranges from 170-200 patients, with approximately 175 visits per day. Many of the ED rooms are dedicated to ED Holding. Travelers expected to work in the ED holding area based on staffing needs. Trauma and Resuscitation experience are preferred. Bar Code Medication scanning is expected of all employees. Candidates must begin compliance within 1-2 weeks of signing the contract. A drug screen must be completed within 30 days. The length of each assignment requires a 10-week minimum commitment. Travelers who have completed 4 consecutive assignments or reached a one-year mark require a 6-month break.
