Nurses will see a heavy load of strokes, cardiovascular issues, diabetes, wounds, behavioral health cases, and sepsis. Some trauma cases may also be encountered, but this is not a trauma designated unit. Security personnel are present onsite at all times. The competent nurse practices independently and demonstrates awareness of all relevant aspects of a situation. Responsibilities include providing routine and complex care while managing contingencies effectively. Utilizing the nursing process, nurses will address the standards of practice. Medication administration alongside monitoring for side-effects and treatment effectiveness is required. Documentation of patient history, symptoms, medication, and care provided is essential. Nurses will assess learning needs and provide education to patients and families accordingly. Completion of all annual competency verification requirements is expected. The schedule requires every other weekend commitment. There will be no on-call requirements or floating to other locations. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 4:1. This role allows for growth in clinical practice and continued development of nursing skills.
