Job Title: RN - ER Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Emergency Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours (3 x 12s or 4 x 12s) Experience: One year of experience in acute care is required. License: Current RN license in the state of practice is required. Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an approved vendor is required. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from an approved vendor is required. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification from an approved vendor is required. Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification is required within 6 months of hire or transfer. Must-Have: Completes accurate triage assessment on all patients and notifies the Emergency MD of all abnormal signs, symptoms, and vital signs consistently. Reviews and completes patient orders in a timely manner. Provides medication side effects teaching to all patients receiving medication in the Emergency Department and includes this teaching in discharge instructions. Recognizes symptoms of cardiac or respiratory distress and other impending emergencies reliably. Provides appropriate nursing interventions in stable and emergent patient situations. Demonstrates competency in all routine nursing skills, including medication administration and intravenous therapy. Understands and follows the chain of command per policy. Accurately interprets ECG rhythm and manages care during life-threatening emergencies. Demonstrates knowledge of lead functions and monitoring based on patient presentation. Possesses appropriate knowledge and skill in providing care during emergency activations. Completes legible, accurate, and timely documentation of all nursing care provided. Performs necessary unit-specific safety and quality control checks consistently. Facilitates safe and timely coordination and collaboration with inpatient units when admitting patients.
