Job Title: Registered Nurse - Emergency Room Profession: RN Specialty: ER Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Rotating mid shifts Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week, 12 hours Experience: One year recent acute care RN experience required License: Current RN license in state of practice required Certifications: - Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an approved vendor required - Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required within 6 months of hire or transfer - Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required within 6 months of hire or transfer Must-Have: - Graduate of a school of nursing required - Commitment to cooperation among the health care team Description: Perform the professional functions of a Registered Nurse in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the care of patients. Coordinate, manage, provide, and delegate patient care. Responsible for meeting the established Standards of Nursing Practice. Promote cooperation among the health care team. Assure patients' personal needs are met. Assist in reducing noise levels in the nursing unit. Show a commitment to co-workers. Work as a team to ensure all patients have their needs met. Maintain patient, co-worker, and hospital privacy. Document clearly, concisely, and legibly. Deliver clear, concise reports. Complete all assigned quality monitors as directed by department manager. Review medical history, physical examinations, and all available assessment data. Identify abnormal diagnostic data and report to the appropriate person. Provide information needed to begin discharge planning in a timely manner for appropriate personnel. Recognize signs and symptoms of cardiac or respiratory distress, or other impending emergencies. Demonstrate knowledge and ability to effectively function in Code Blue and other emergency situations. Accurately administer and chart medications according to hospital policies and procedures, using patients' six rights. Implement and/or assist others in the implementation and documentation of planned education. Assess patients' educational needs. Assist in the development and education of new staff members. Attend and participate in staff meetings. Complete education, training, and competencies for department-specific skills. Successfully adapt to changes in the unit, environment, and workflow. Ensure all patient charge items are charged and documented correctly. Utilize department resources appropriately. Minimize incidental overtime. Perform other job-related duties as assigned. Commit to the safety and well-being of associates and patients. Comply with required vaccinations as a condition of employment and on an annual basis, where applicable.
