Job Title: Registered Nurse - Emergency Room Profession: RN Specialty: Emergency Room Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: One year recent acute care RN experience required License: Current RN license in state of practice required Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required within 6 months of hire or transfer Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required within 6 months of hire or transfer Must-Have: Graduate of a school of nursing required Description: Perform the professional functions of a Registered Nurse in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the care of patients. Coordinate, manage, provide, and delegate patient care. Responsible for meeting the established Standards of Nursing Practice and promoting cooperation among the healthcare team. Assure patients' personal needs are met. Assist in reducing the noise level of the nursing unit. Show a commitment to co-workers. Work as a team to ensure all patients have their needs met. Maintain patient, co-worker, and hospital privacy. Ensure documentation is clear, concise, and legible. Deliver a clear, concise report. Complete all assigned quality monitors as directed by department manager. Follow infection control guidelines. Recognize signs and symptoms of cardiac or respiratory distress or other impending emergencies. Demonstrate knowledge and ability to effectively function in Code Blue and other emergency situations. Accurately administer and chart medications according to hospital policies and procedures using patients' 6 rights. Implement and assist others in implementation and documentation of planned education. Assess patients' educational needs. Assist in the development and education of new staff members. Attend and participate in staff meetings. Complete education, training, and competencies for department-specific skills. Successfully adapt to changes in the unit, environment, and workflow. Assure all patient charge items are charged and documented correctly. Utilize department resources appropriately. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
