Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Emergency Room Duration: 17 Weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 Hours Experience: 2 Years License: Required Certifications: ACLS (AHA) BLS (AHA) NIHSS PALS (AHA) TNCC Must-Have: Candidates must have 2 years of experience in specialty and 1 travel contract. Description: The unit consists of fast track clinic rooms and trauma bays. There are 12 beds, with 2 dedicated to trauma bays. An average of 70 patients are seen each day. There is 1 seclusion room available for psychiatric needs. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1 to 4. The electronic medical record system used is Meditech. Charge nurses do not take patients. There is 1 paramedic per shift, typically running the clinic and responding to trauma or codes. There are also ER techs, with a minimum of 1 per shift, usually 2. Nurse externs, who are nursing students, are present in the unit. Security and patient sitters are used for psychiatric holds and 1-on-1 observations. Every other weekend is required for staffing. Holidays will be rotated in with permanent staff members. Scrub color is hunter green pants with a white top and white jacket. Nurses can perform their own lab draws, but lab staff may assist when needed. There is a team available for midline and hard stick IV placements during business hours. Respiratory therapy is available 24/7. Pharmacy services are available 24/7, with an in-house pharmacist during the day. Common patient types range from neonates to geriatrics, including minor walk-ins and trauma cases. Trauma cases will be stabilized and transferred as needed.
