Job Title: Clinical Nurse I, II, III, IV Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Emergency Department Duration: 11 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 1 year License: Current RN license or current Compact state license Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS (or ENPC), TNCC or ATCN, CPI or Equivalent Preferred Must-Have: Every other weekend requirement Voluntary on-call requirement Floating requirement as helping hands during low census Description: The Registered Nurse is a clinical practitioner who coordinates and implements patient care specific to the age of the patient population served on the assigned units. He/she ensures that quality care is provided in an efficient and safe manner, consistent with the unit's standards of care. He/she demonstrates performance consistent with the mission, philosophy, and goals of the unit and organization. Demonstrates quality and effectiveness in work habits and clinical practice. Treats staff, physicians, patients, and families with consideration and respect. Minimum qualifications include being a graduate of an accredited program for Registered Nursing. Current knowledge and skills appropriate to the age/type of patient population served are required. Must be knowledgeable and sensitive to patients' rights in the delivery of care. Communication skills must be clear and concise, appropriate to the developmental age of the patient. The nature of supervision is under the Patient Care Director or Manager. The environment may expose the nurse to bloodborne pathogens and infectious diseases. Must work in a clean, well-lit, ventilated, smoke-free environment. Subject to stressful professional relationships. Working hours are varied, with flexibility due to unexpected changes in schedule and emergencies. Physical requirements include the ability to handle emergency/crisis situations, with prolonged, extensive, or considerable standing and walking. Requires heavy physical effort to position, push, and/or transfer patients or equipment and supplies. Considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching are also required. Ability to judge distance and space relationships, see peripherally, and distinguish and identify different colors is necessary. Hearing and visual acuity must be within normal or correctable limits. Manual dexterity and fine motor coordination are required.
