Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Emergency Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night 3x12-Hour Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 2 years required License: Must possess a valid nursing license Certifications: BLS NIHSS ACLS PALS Must-Have: Charge experience required Pediatric only: Near drowning preferred Description: The Registered Nurse will work in the Emergency Room setting. The nurse-to-patient ratio will be 1:4. Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years of Emergency Room experience. First-time travelers are not accepted for this position. Weekend coverage is required, with a commitment to every third weekend. The position may involve floating to different departments and facilities as needed. The use of specific skills is essential, including managing pediatric conditions such as abdominal pain, asthma, and burns. Experience in psychiatric nursing is necessary, including managing acute psychosis and suicidal patients. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in IV therapy and phlebotomy skills. Respiratory skills such as chest tube management and interpretation of arterial blood gases are required. Medication administration, including emergency medications and IV sedation, is a must. General emergency department experience with both adult and pediatric patients is necessary. Professional topics like isolation precautions and triage knowledge are important. Orthopedic skills in managing and applying splints are also needed. This position requires the ability to work with diverse patient populations, including adolescents, adults, pediatrics, and geriatrics.
