Job Title: Emergency Department Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Emergency Department Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour Night Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum 2 years of ED RN experience required License: RN Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, CPI required; TNCC preferred Description: This position is for an Emergency Department Registered Nurse. The hospital has 109 licensed beds and is not a teaching facility. There is no trauma designation, and it serves as an Advanced Primary Stroke Center. The unit has 16 beds and patient ratios are typically 1 RN to 4-5 patients, based on acuity. Patient types and common diagnoses include pediatric and adult cases such as COPD, CHF, chest pain, myocardial infarction, non-ST elevation myocardial infarction, stroke, transient ischemic attack, new onset cardiac arrhythmia, uncontrolled diabetes, and minor trauma. General Emergency Department skills are required, including cardiac rhythm interpretation and experience with critical care drips, ventilator management, chest tube management, peripheral IV starts, TNK/TPA administration, conscious sedation, and ESI assessments. The team includes CNAs, charge nurses, respiratory therapists, and a 24/7 physician staff. Nursing staff may be required to float to other facilities within the region as needed. Weekend rotation includes working every other weekend and travelers are expected to work 75% of holidays. The hospital provides free parking and requires navy scrubs.
