JOB DESCRIPTION
RN - ED
· 337 licensed beds
· No Trauma Designation
· Not a Teaching Hospital
· Chest Pain Center
· Stroke Center
· Radius rule: Traveler's permanent address must be 50 miles outside of home unit
● Unit Information:
· Beds: 43
▪ 8 Clinical Decision beds – Behavioral Health (not locked)
▪ 4 additional on opposite side used for admins from FSED or holding patients
▪ Average Census: 145 patients on average per day
· Minimum Years of Experience required? 2 years of ED exp
· Will you accept a first-time traveler? No
● Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:
· General ED Population – Trauma stabilization to ship out, Respiratory illness, Stroke, Behavioral Health, Acute MI, Uncontrollable Diabetes, Minor trauma, etc.
· Ages served – Pediatric to Geriatric
· 25-30% Admission rate
● Patient Ratios:
· RN: 1:3-4, based on acuity
· CNA: will serve as Unit Coordinator and assisting RN with patient cares, ratios varies
● Required License, National Certification, Certs (BLS, ACLS, etc.), or other position specific requirements such as Driver's License and/or Insurance:
· RN:
▪ BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, CPI (required)
▪ TNCC (preferred)
● Skills required:
· RN: General ED Skillset to include but not limited to - Cardiac rhythm interpretation, experience with critical care drips, PIV starts, TNK/TPA administration, conscious sedation
● Support within the Department:
· HCT/Unit Sec – 1:8-10
· Paramedic
· Charge nurse – free floating
· Patient Safety Attendants
· Pharmacist dedicated to ED – 7a to 11p
· Social Worker
· Scheduler
· RT 24/7
· ED Physicians + APP; Geriatric APP
· Hospitalist, 24/7
· Intensivist, 24/7
● Technology/Equipment:
· EMR: EPIC
· IV Pump: Alaris
· Med dispensing: Omnicell
· Monitors: Phillips
· Rover Communication; Panda Infant Warmer, LUCAS
● Floating:
· Will be required to float per region needs – will require floating to all facilities listed below, as needed, within scope of practice – DECLINE if not agreeable
· Region 2 - Pineville, Anson, Union, Union West, any Freestanding ED within Region, Central Division (CMC Main + CMC Mercy + Levine Children's Hospital)
· If floating mid-shift, Traveler will be paid for the time traveling between facilities (will remain on the clock)
