They ensure that patients and families receive individualized, high-quality, safe patient care. They practice in a clinical environment administered by Nurse Managers and leaders. The framework for practice is guided by professional and evidence-based models. RN competencies are derived from these models and supported by core values. It is expected that all RN Clinical Nurses uphold the practice of nursing as outlined by the state Professional Nurse Practice Act. They implement the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics Standards set forth by the American Nurses Association. As a member of the patient services team, they uphold the voice of the patient and system policies. Core responsibilities include performing the Nursing Process in clinical care using evidence-based practice. They provide relationship-based patient-centered care consistent with population-specific characteristics. They partner with patients and significant others in the care process. They practice using current clinical standards and coordinate safe quality patient care. Teamwork and collaboration are essential, which includes diverse interdisciplinary communication. Participation in performance improvement activities is expected to promote safe and quality patient care. RN Clinical Nurses complete all initial and ongoing competency assessments and required education. They serve as preceptors and mentors to ensure a qualified workforce. They promote evidence-based practice, nursing research, and performance improvement. They uphold organizational policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. They participate in data collection and consult experts to address practice questions. Proactive planning for patient care across the continuum is vital.
