Description: The RN Clinical Nurse Emergency Department is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed caregivers. This role ensures that patients, families, and significant others receive individualized high-quality, safe patient care. The practice environment is administered by Nurse Managers and other leaders. The RN Clinical Nurse is expected to be knowledgeable and uphold the practice of nursing as outlined by the state's Professional Nurse Practice Act. Individual responsibilities include performing the Nursing Process, which encompasses assessment, diagnosis, identification of outcomes, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Care is delivered using evidence-based practices and analytical thinking to ensure individualized patient care. Relationship-based patient-centered care is essential, adapting services to reflect cultural diversity. The RN Clinical Nurse partners with patients and significant others to keep them updated on care plans and setting goals. Timely documentation and coordination of care delivery are critical functions of this role. Teamwork and collaboration are paramount, promoting a respectful and inclusive clinical environment. Participation in performance improvement initiatives and incorporating stakeholder feedback is expected. Continuous professional development is a requirement, including mandatory education and competency assessments. The RN Clinical Nurse serves as a preceptor or mentor to other professional nurses to ensure a qualified future workforce. Evidence-based practice and nursing research are actively promoted, encouraging staff involvement in decision-making processes. Proactively planning for patient care across the continuum is essential for optimal outcomes. Participation in protocol development and resource management is required for effective patient care delivery. Compliance with organizational policies, standards, and regulatory requirements is mandatory. Other duties as assigned may be required.
