Job Title: Electrophysiology Registered Nurse (EP RN) Profession: Client RN EP Specialty: Client: L4RN: EP RN Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 3x12.0 Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 2 years License: NY License only Certifications: BLS (American Heart Association only) Must-Have: - Proficient in moderate sedation. - Ability to communicate with the physician and other in-room staff to ensure all equipment and supplies are available. - Assists in facilitating room turnover and on-time starts for timely patient care. - Coordinates with the charge nurse and third-party vendors to ensure all team members are available for scheduled procedures. Description: The Electrophysiology Registered Nurse performs diagnostic electrophysiology procedures and interventions in a clinical setting. Your duties include preparing the patient for the procedure and ensuring that all equipment and instrumentation are in working order. You will monitor the read-out or recording during the procedure and assist with lab analysis and interpretation of the data. You will pass on any issues to the physician or specialist. You may assist physicians with pacing implementation and installing other permanent devices related to heart and cardiac health. The EP RN will assist at the sterile field, preparing the patient and equipment for studies and ablations as the circulator. You will maintain fluids for the ablation catheter and provide assistance with the ablator. The primary role of the EP RN will remain patient-focused while assisting anesthesia, documenting during studies and ablations, and providing backup pacing during implants. Epic is the main way of documenting procedures; proficiency is required. Preferred experience includes cardiac implant or structural heart scrub experience but is not required. Experience with GE (MacLab & CardioLab) systems is preferred but not required. Typical procedures performed include RF ablations, cryo ablations, and device implants such as traditional pacemakers and ICDs. Additional procedures include subcutaneous ICDs, leadless pacemakers, loop devices, and left atrial appendage closures. Experience in low-risk procedures and laser treatments is beneficial.
