Alliance Services, Inc. is seeking a travel nurse RN DOU - Direct Observation Unit for a travel nursing job in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Opportunity:
RN - Med Surg/Observation
Job Details:
• Work in a Med Surg/Observation unit (IU 6KLM Med and Tele) treating patients with conditions including R/O chest pain, post cath lab, CHF, AFib, R/O CVAs, TIAs, post IR, cellulitis, and AKI
• Average patient stay of 36 hours with 2-3 admissions/discharges daily
• Day shift patient ratio: 1:4-5; Night shift patient ratio: 1:6-8
• Tech support ratio: Day 1:5, Night 1:9
• 1-2 years of experience in an acute care setting required; first-time travelers accepted
• Required certification: BLS
• Required skills include ostomy care, drain management, IV skills, drip management (heparin, insulin, Cardizem, Amiodarone), and experience with admissions/discharges in a fast-paced environment
• Experience in an observation unit preferred; basic Med Surg skills required
• Most patients are ambulatory; no ventilators or trachs
• Charting system and equipment: EPIC, Alaris, Pyxis, and GE monitors
• Unit support includes charge nurse with lighter patient assignment, unit secretary 24/7, hospitalist 24/7, respiratory therapy in-house 24/7, centralized telemetry monitoring with tele tech 24/7, and phlebotomy assistance for peripheral blood draws
• Floating may be required to MSUs or ED Holding (1:4 ratio); travelers float first
• Weekend rotation: every other weekend
• Schedule is created 6 weeks at a time; schedule provided 2 weeks before start
• No on-call required
• Cannot work more than 60 hours per week or 5 consecutive 12-hour shifts per fatigue policy
• Holiday expectations: 1 holiday per season (Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, NYE/New Year's Day)
• Scrub color: Any - no camo or denim
• Must document pain levels before and after administering pain medications
• Free parking available in designated areas

This facility is a large 933-bed acute care hospital holding Magnet Designation and recognition as a Level III Trauma Center, Level III NICU, and Comprehensive Stroke Center. The facility is equipped to handle a wide range of complex medical cases and provides robust support services across all units.
