Job Title: Registered Nurse - Dialysis Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Dialysis Duration: 13 weeks Shift: TBD Hours per Shift: 10 Experience: Minimum 2 years in Dialysis License: Current RN licensure in the applicable state Certifications: CPR and any other relevant certifications Must-Have: Excellent computer skills Patient assessment Psychosocial assessment Case management Blood drawing Description: Reports to the Nurse Manager/Coordinator of the Dialysis program. Maintains a collaborative working relationship with nursing and technical staff. Functions include admission and ongoing assessments of patients utilizing physical and psychosocial assessment skills, diagnostic data, and medical evaluations. Evaluates effectiveness of care provided as related to short- and long-term patient goals. Develops a plan for patient care including actions in anticipation of individual patient needs. Implements nursing actions and medical orders to meet complex needs of patients and significant others, taking into account their age-specific psychosocial and educational needs. Documents care provided and patient responses to care in appropriate forms in the patient's record. Assumes Charge Nurse responsibilities and accountability for care provided by other personnel as assigned. Demonstrates leadership by functioning as a professional role model, maintaining communication, problem-solving, and assisting in orienting and training staff. Strives to fulfill the organization's mission, values, philosophy, and goals. Demonstrates team member standards and adheres to diversity principles and expectations. Principal Duties and Responsibilities: Demonstrates ability to observe and assess patients on an ongoing basis, keeping in mind age-specific needs. Demonstrates ability to respond in emergencies. Participates in primary care nursing/case management and provides direct patient care as necessary. Performs blood-drawing procedures. Maintains a neat and safe work area. Monitors and adjusts dialysis therapy to meet the needs of the patient. Administers and monitors medication according to policy. Contributes to ongoing patient education and rehabilitation. Serves as a referral source for the patient. Documents nursing care and observations, including pre/post assessments and completion of treatment records. Demonstrates a professional approach to the job. Communicates with other departments and dialysis facilities. Functions as part of an interdisciplinary team. Oversees care provided by clinical technicians. Treats patients and families with respect and dignity. Demonstrates flexibility in work situations. Demonstrates ability to plan work activities. Follows infection control policies and procedures. Demonstrates ability to minimize waste in the assigned unit. Accepts constructive criticism and direction from supervisors. Demonstrates problem-solving methodologies for the benefit of patients and the patient care area. Carries out medical orders within the parameters of the role.
