Position:Registered Nurse – CVICU

Location: Glenview, IL

Job Type: 8 Week Contract + Possible Extensions

Shift: Days/Nights – 12 Hours

Expected Hours: 36 Hours per Week

 

Note:- Passing an EKG test is a requirement.

 

Job Overview:
The CVICU Registered Nurse provides specialized care to critically ill patients with complex cardiovascular conditions. This role involves monitoring, assessing, and treating patients recovering from major cardiac and vascular surgeries, as well as those experiencing acute cardiac events. The CVICU RN works collaboratively with physicians, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality patient care in a fast-paced critical care environment.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct nursing care to critically ill cardiovascular and cardiothoracic patients.
  • Monitor and interpret hemodynamic parameters, cardiac rhythms, laboratory results, and patient responses to treatment.
  • Care for patients recovering from CABG, valve replacement, TAVR, heart transplant, LVAD implantation, and other cardiac surgeries.
  • Administer medications, vasoactive drips, blood products, and IV therapies according to physician orders and hospital protocols.
  • Manage advanced cardiac monitoring equipment, arterial lines, central venous catheters, Swan-Ganz catheters, and ventilators.
  • Assess and respond to changes in patient condition, initiating appropriate interventions in emergency situations.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized patient care plans.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of recent CVICU Registered Nurse experience.
  • Active IllinoisRegistered Nurse (RN) License.
  • Current BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification.
  • Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) Certification.
  • NIHSS Certification required.
