Registered Nurse (RN) – Occupational Health
Location: Leavittsburg, OH 44430
Duration: Minimum 6 months from projected start date
Hours: 40 hours per week
Shift: 6:10 AM – 7:30 PM (13-hour shifts)
Schedule Requirements
This is not a PRN position. A set schedule will be provided on the first day. Candidates must be available for any of the following schedules and remain flexible, as shifts may change based on facility needs:
- Sunday, Thursday, Friday: 6:10 AM – 7:30 PM
- Wednesday, Friday, Sunday: 6:10 AM – 7:30 PM
- Tuesday, Friday, Saturday: 11:10 AM – 12:30 PM
Facility Environment
- All-male Level 1 and Level 3 correctional facility
- Significant walking and stair use required
- Must clear a metal detector upon entry
- No cell phones permitted until proper paperwork is submitted and approved
- No cans, tobacco, vapes, etc. permitted
- Food and drinks must be in clear, see-through containers
- Maximum of one gallon of water permitted inside the facility
Position Summary
The Registered Nurse (RN) provides professional nursing care to incarcerated individuals and/or staff in a state-operated correctional facility. Responsibilities include direct patient care, medication administration, emergency response, documentation, and coordination of healthcare services.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Duties
- Assess, observe, and document patient symptoms, reactions, and progress
- Conduct nursing rounds and monitor patient conditions
- Take and record vital signs
- Administer prescribed medications, including narcotics
- Implement ordered treatment plans and immunizations
- Monitor restrained or isolated patients at required intervals (e.g., every 15 minutes)
- Respond to medical emergencies (administer first aid, perform CPR, arrange hospital transfers, notify physician as needed)
- Develop and implement care plans
- Perform specialized procedures including:
- IV therapy
- Chemotherapy
- Wound care
- Oxygen therapy
- Dialysis
- Blood transfusions
- Tube feeding
- Catheterization
- Suctioning
- Phlebotomy
Leadership & Oversight
- Organize and oversee Code Blue response team
- Direct LPNs and medical support staff assigned to the unit
- Act as shift lead in absence of higher-level nursing staff
- Review care plans and assist with staff training and orientation
- Participate in staff development and education
Administrative & Documentation
- Maintain accurate and timely medical records
- Complete incident and accident reports
- Document Medicaid information as required
- Order and maintain inventory of supplies, equipment, and controlled medications
- Schedule outpatient appointments and coordinate physician services
- Participate in meetings and problem-solving initiatives
