Experience with epicardial and transvenous pacemakers, chest tubes, and cardiac medications. Ventilator and tracheostomy management skills. Ability to interpret cardiac rhythms. Experience with EPIC EMR system preferred. Specific CV surgical experience, including ECMO, CVVH, IABP, and VAD, is preferred. Description: This position is for a critical care unit specializing in cardiovascular intensive care. The unit consists of 30 beds with a busy average daily census. Patient types include immediate post-operative CABG patients, valve repairs/replacements, and heart transplant recipients. Also, thoracic surgeries such as esophagectomy, pneumonectomy, and lobectomy, along with fresh post-operative vascular cases, are managed. Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:1, 1:2 for regular ICU status, and 1:3 for mixed status patients. Technician to patient ratios are 1:8-10. Support within the department includes a charge nurse available without a patient assignment, dedicated intensivists, and 24/7 hospitalist coverage. Bedside telemetry monitoring is conducted from the nurses' station, with no tele tech on-site. The unit is equipped with EMR using EPIC, along with specific monitoring and IV pump systems. Nurses may float to other units as needed but are primarily assigned to the critical care unit. Weekend rotations occur every third weekend, with holiday coverage of 1-2 per contract. The schedule operates on a 6-week cycle with advance notice provided. All staff, including travelers, adhere to a fatigue policy. Professional scrub colors are required, with no graphics or logos.
