Job Title: Case Manager Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Utilization Management Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 10 hours (17:00 - 03:30) Experience: Minimum 3 years required, 5 years preferred License: Valid nursing license required Certifications: BLS, MAB Must-Have: - Acute hospital experience - Care coordination - Discharge planning - Medical necessity determination Description: Seeking a Case Manager for the Emergency Department. The position involves managing patients who are transferred for pediatric services or tertiary level care. No trauma or burn cases are included in this role. The average daily census is 15 with 22 rooms and 34 beds available. Candidates must have a minimum of 3 years of experience, with seasoned travelers preferred, although first-time travelers with solid experience are welcome. Every other weekend work is required. Navy blue scrubs are required but not provided. Required certifications include BLS and MAB. Skills needed include expertise in admission criteria, care coordination, concurrent review, and discharge planning. Knowledge of evidence-based guidelines for determining medical necessity is necessary. Candidates should be familiar with utilizing InterQual criteria, and comply with CMS and HIPAA guidelines. Experience in an Emergency Department, ICU, or surgical services is preferred. The patient demographic includes adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.
