Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Cardiovascular Surgery Duration: 14 weeks Shift: Days Hours per Shift: 8 AM - 5 PM Experience: Minimum of 1 year in related nursing specialty preferred License: RN License in state of employment or compact Certifications: BLS required, ACLS required Must-Have: - Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred - Ability to practice independently in a clinical setting - Proficiency in nursing care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation Description: The competent nurse practices independently and demonstrates awareness of all relevant aspects of a situation. Provides routine and complex care with the ability to set long-range goals or plans. Continues to develop the ability to cope with and manage contingencies of clinical nursing. Makes appropriate assignments and delegates to other care providers as a means to help manage the clinical situation. Meets expectations of applicable competencies: Leader of self, leader of others, or leader of leaders. Consistent with the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, provides nursing care utilizing the nursing process for assigned patients. Addresses increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families in accordance with their level of practice. Administers medications and treatments using the appropriate protocol; monitors for side effects and effectiveness of the prescribed treatment. Documents patient history, symptoms, medication, and care given. Assesses learning needs and provides education to patients, family members, and/or caregivers; identifying issues and resources.
