Registered Nurse – CVICU (Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit)

Key Responsibilities- Provide direct patient care in a high-acuity cardiovascular intensive care unit managing adult and geriatric patients with diagnoses including cardiogenic shock, cardiac arrest, heart failure, MI, cardiac arrhythmias, pulmonary hypertension, and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy
- Operate and monitor specialized equipment including Impella, IABP, VAD, CRRT, mechanical ventilators, cooling devices, and CCO monitors
- Assist with and support bedside procedures including central line and arterial line insertions, bronchoscopy, chest tube insertion, Swan/PA catheter insertion, and targeted temperature management
- Maintain nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:1, up to 1:3 for stable, lower-acuity patients, within a 15-bed unit with an average daily census of 10
- Float within specialty to ICU and lower-acuity units as needed
- Participate in advanced therapy workups including LVAD evaluations and heart transplant assessments
Required Qualifications- Active Maryland RN license or valid Compact RN license at time of submission
- Minimum 2 years of CVICU or CICU experience; first-time travelers considered with strong CVICU background including IABP and Impella experience
- Current BLS certification (AHA only)
- Current ACLS certification (AHA only)
- Current CPI certification (Calm Every Storm online version accepted)
Preferred Experience / Skills- NIHSS certification
- CCRN certification
- Experience with CRRT and targeted temperature management protocols
