Job Title: RN II-ICU-CVICU Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Critical Care Nursing Duration: 8 weeks Shift: Day Shift Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Six months previous critical care experience preferred License: Current RN license in state of practice required Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor required Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from approved vendor required Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) required within 1 year of hire or transfer into the department Must-Have: Current Epic experience Description: Responsible for the planning, coordination, and provision of nursing care to patients in a critical care setting. Supervises and delegates care responsibilities to ancillary personnel in line with their scope of practice. Possesses critical care nursing knowledge and skills applicable to patients with multi-system failure requiring ventilation, neuro/trauma, respiratory failure, and hemodynamic monitoring. Provides appropriate nursing interventions in both stable and emergent patient situations. Competent in all routine nursing skills including medication administration and intravenous therapy. Capable of managing the care and maintenance of indwelling catheters and drains, ensuring the safe use of medical equipment in the critical care environment. Understands and follows the chain of command per policy. Accurately interprets ECG rhythms and manages care of patients during life-threatening emergencies. Verifies alarm settings with monitoring technicians according to policy. Demonstrates knowledge of lead functions and application, making recommendations for optimal monitoring based on patient presentation. Proficient in assessment and intervention related to changes in neurological symptoms. Knowledgeable regarding the care and management of patients requiring ICP and ventriculostomy monitoring. Skilled in the care and management of patients requiring Pulmonary Artery and Arterial Pressure Monitoring Catheters. Experienced with mechanical ventilation and other ventilatory support devices. Understands the principles of multisystem alterations and their impact on physiological functions, developmental tasks, and mental processing of the adult and elder population. Initiates a multidisciplinary, goal-oriented care plan for each patient in collaboration with members of the health care team. Provides education to patients and their families regarding care. Utilizes teaching methods appropriate to the patient’s age, condition, culture, and assessed learning readiness. Completes legible, accurate, and timely documentation of all nursing care provided, including evaluations of patient responses to medications, treatments, and procedures. Consistently performs necessary unit-specific safety and quality control checks. Performs other job-related duties as assigned. Commits to safety and wellbeing of associates and patients by adhering to all required vaccinations as a condition of employment. Exemptions may apply as per policy.
