Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Active RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS preferred, CCRN a plus Must-Have: Minimum of 2 years of CVICU experience with the ability to manage patients independently. Description: The unit has 20 private, monitored beds. Nurse-patient ratios vary from 1:1 to 2:1 depending on patient acuity. The patient population primarily includes post-open heart surgical patients, such as those recovering from CABG, valve surgeries, dissections, and various vascular procedures. Common conditions also include STEMI, unstable angina, cardiogenic shock, and severe heart failure. Patients may require targeted temperature management, transcutaneous pacing, and transvenous pacing. Familiarity with various interventions, including IABPs, Impellas, Swan Ganz catheters, ECMO, external pacemakers, and CRRT, is essential. Registered Nurses will need to manage and titrate multiple drips such as dopamine, dobutamine, levophed, and insulin. Charge nurses and house supervisors are available during all shifts. Patient care technicians assist with ratios that may range from 1:12 to 1:15 depending on staffing. The facility has advanced practice providers and hospitalists available 24/7. Respiratory therapists are also on-site around the clock. Patients will be monitored using Philips telemetry systems, and RNs are expected to interpret strips. Shifts are 12 hours long, with every other weekend and holiday requirements. RNs may be required to float to other areas as needed and are expected to take on full patient assignments. While there is no specific dress code, scrubs must be clean and appropriate in appearance. The ideal candidate should possess proficiency in cardiovascular ICU competencies and may be expected to manage advanced equipment and high-acuity patients.
